I am seeking information on John ARD, my gggrandfather, who was on the 1860 Santa Rosa Census. He was the father of my ggrandmother, Abigail Susan (Susie) Ard COOK. Who were his parents and siblings? Looking for information on the family of Henry, son of Starkes and Millie Morrison BAKER. They were found in the 1850 - 1870 census of Walton Co FL and had eleven sons and one daughter. Millie, apparently a widow, is found in the 1880 census of Santa Rosa Co.FL Children: Zachariah, Samantha (DAVIS), John L., James E., Stark, George A., William H., Marion, McIver, Decator, Sherman, & Moses. Samantha, Stark, Marion, McIver, Decator, & William H. all went to Escambia Co., FL but I have not been able to track the rest of the family. Have lots to share! Ron Jones

She also had a sister Mary E. BISHOP and Susanna BISHOP. Her brothers were Matthew A BISHOP and possibly William BISHOP. Lucy m) Phillip Henry FAULK, son of Phillip FAULK and Frances Ann Crain. Ellen Elizabeth CRAIN was the dau of William CRAIN b) in NC and Francis GRIMES of NC. Does any one have info on the CRAIN family and how they fit with the FAULKS and BISHOPS? I need help finding the parents of two COBB brothers both born in Santa Rosa County. Franklin Pierce COBB was born there on 06 Apr 1857. He went to Gonzales County, Texas and married Nannie Avant in 1887. His brother Farrah COBB was born in Santa Rosa County in March, 1861. He also went to Texas. He married a sister of Nannie AVANT. I have no record that their parents did or did not also go to Texas. There are many Cobbs in the 1860 census of Santa Rosa but the microfilm at the National Archives has many faded pages for 1860 Santa Rosa. Any help will be appreciated. Jack Stevens, Fairfax, Va

Searcing for information on Duncan Bonaparte CURRIE b) 17 Nov 1819 in Scotland. d) abt. Nov 1847 in Yellow Fever epidemic. He married in April 1845 in AL to Elizabeth Ann Catherine LOPER of Bullock, Coffee Co. AL. His only child William Taylor CURRIE was born in Jul 1847. Today we found a D.B. Curry listed on the 1842 Voter's Registration List of Santa Rosa Co. Maybe this is our Duncan Bonaparte CURRIE. Perhaps Santa Rosa Co was where he bought his farm and where his son was born. Looking for Laird Beatty FLEMING and sons William Vergil FLEMING, Amos Milton FLEMING and their sister Elizabeth Elvinia FLEMING ROWE(ROE?) and descendants. Left Covington County AL after 1836 and showed up in Smith, Panola, Rusk and Nacogdoches Counties in Texas by 1860 census. Family records state Amos Milton moved from Milton, FL to Texas and sister Elizabeth followed after being widowed. I have been given a copy of a bible record that states that James Silas died during the ward, date given as Dec 2(?) 1965(1865?). In my possession are the military papers of James Silas Jernigan that state that he was paroled on May 25 1965(1865?) at Montgomery, A. I have recently obtained a marriage license for James S Jernigan to Maggie Lee dated 15Jan1866. How could he have died in Dec 1865 and married in Monroeville AL on Jan 1866? Also in my possession are the Homestead Land Grant Application papers from Marshall Co. Al that contain an affidavit that states James S. is widowed dated 1870. James Silas, like his two brothers Silas Jr and Josiah, as well as their father Silas, were Masons. I am in hopes that someone may read this and possibly have heard or know something about this family and what happened to separate them. Any assistance given will be gratefully appreciated. My father Charles Jernigan left Holley about 1954 but his parents remained there until their deaths. I still have a lot of relatives that live in the area. Searching for information on James Fredrick RHODES, married Rebecca E. BURK from Ala. Lived in Santa Rosa Co. during the 1880 and 1885 census. We're married in Santa Rosa Co. July 17, 1877. He went by Fred RHODES and was a veteran of the war for the CSA. Was said to have lost a log(unknown if in war) but family tradition says he was accomplished musician. Said to have been murdered while in either Kansas or Missouri before 1910 census. He and wife were separated in 1900 census living in McDavid in Escambia co. David Ward m 1) Susan JONES 2) Emily Carter JONES, sisters who were daughters of Allen JONES and Mary Jane Moody Jones. David was a Justice of the Peace. His son Leander Burke Ward is my grandfather. Leander married Margaret H. MITCHELL. David was an AL Volunteer in the Civil War. He lived for a short while in Dale Co. AL after the War and returned to Santa Rosa. His children are buried in the Milton Cemetary. There are no marked stones for him and his wives.
